Opening Receptions were a success!

We had an awesome set of opening receptions last night!  Good turnout at both, and most visitors were willing to see both galleries!

Calcasieu Cut-Ups and Calcasieu Parish Talented Arts Program exhibits open TOMORROW!

Our Calcasieu Cut-Ups Quilt Exhibit and Talented Arts Program Exhibit both begin TOMORROW!  Be sure to come to the opening reception tomorrow night from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at both the Henning Cultural Center and Brimstone Museum!  The exhibits will be catered by the Sulphur High School ProStart classes.

Cleanest City?

Tomorrow morning judges from the Cleanest City competition will be traveling through Sulphur to judge our city for their award!  It's "all hands on deck" at the Henning Cultural Center & Brimstone Museum to prepare our gallery's two new exhibits so that the judges can have a "sneak peek" at the exhibit before it opens! :)

Last week for SHS!

This is the last week to catch the Sulphur High School Photo IV Student and Faculty exhibition, so don't miss it!  The exhibit will end Thursday, so chances are, the walls will be empty on Friday!  Also, don't forget to come to our upcoming exhibit, from the Talented Art Program students of Calcasieu Parish!  Check the sidebar for more details.

Books for sale? YES!

I'm very excited to announce that we now have quite a few copies of two of my favorite books about our city's history!  We will be selling these books at the Brimstone Museum in Sulphur for $15 each.  For more information, give us a call at 337-527-0357!

SHS Photo opening & other news

The Sulphur High School Photo IV Faculty and Student exhibit starts TODAY!  The opening reception will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m., so throw on some nice clothes and get over here!

In other news, the website has been updated with an "Artist Opportunities" section.  If you are an artist (or know someone who is), be sure to take a look at that section, so that you can get involved in one of our juried art shows!  Our "Call to Artists" flyers include most of the details you will need to know about submitting artwork to us, but if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to call the office at 527-0357.

Sulphur High School Photography - 2/23/2012

Join us next Thursday for the opening reception of a new exhibit!  Artwork by Sulphur High School's Photography IV classes (along with the teachers!) will be on display from February 23rd to March 22nd, 2012.

The opening reception will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23rd.  Refreshments will be provided by SHS Pro-Start classes.
